The Case for Wearing Your EDC Instead of Carrying It

You forget things in pockets. You forget things in bags. You don't forget your necklace. That's the entire argument for body carry, and it's stronger than it sounds.

The fundamental case

EDC fails at the carry layer more often than it fails at the tool layer. Pocket carry depends on the outfit having the pocket, the pocket being the right pocket, and the morning version of you remembering to put the thing in the right pocket. Three failure points, every day, forever. Body carry collapses those three points into one. The chain goes on once. After that, the carry is on you regardless.

Where pocket carry actually fails

  • Nightlife. The outfit doesn't have pockets, or they're decorative. Pocket carry isn't an option, so people leave the gear at home.
  • Festivals. Bags get searched. Pockets lose things at 3am. The pendant on the chain went through the gate as jewellery and is still there.
  • Travel. The carry-on gets wanded. The hold luggage goes to a different city. The chain stays on your chest through every airport.
  • Gym. Activewear pockets are theatre. Anything else falls out the first time you bend. The chain stays under the shirt without moving.
  • Working from home. Shorts, pyjamas, a single pocket if you're lucky. Body carry is the only method that survives the home-office wardrobe.

The psychology of always-on carry

The chain went on once. The piece is there. The mental load drops. The friction of carrying drops to zero. The probability that the piece is on you when you need it goes to one. People who've made the switch don't go back — the comfort isn't the metal, it's the absence of the daily check.

The best carry is the carry you stopped thinking about a month ago and is still on you right now.

Why a pendant specifically

Of body carry locations — wrist, neck, ankle, waist — the neck is the only real estate with space for a meaningful piece. The pendant on a chain is the most-developed body-carry form factor because it's already a category jewellery knows how to wear, photograph, gift, and accessorise. EDC pendant carry inherits all of that infrastructure without inventing anything new.

What GoBlow gets right

machined stainless steel marine-grade stainless, 12×82mm, on a 50cm machined stainless steel chain. Threaded twist-to-lock closure — not magnetic. The thread is the difference between "wearing carry" and "wearing carry confidently." Magnetic closures fail in crowds, on impact, and when fabric brushes them. Threaded closures don't. Five finishes. Pick the one that suits your jewellery rotation and put it on. The daily check stops happening.
