What to Bring to Beyond the Valley 2026 — Festival Carry Guide

Beyond the Valley isn't Splendour. Same idea — three days, camping, big stages — completely different crowd, different climate, different expectations. NYE at Queenscliff, 15,000 people on the Bellarine, and a crowd that dresses harder than anywhere else on the Australian festival circuit.

What makes BTV different

It's New Year's Eve. BTV runs across the turn of the year, which means the weekend doesn't start at the festival — it starts at NYE parties in Melbourne the night before. Your carry has to work for a Chapel Street rooftop or a Brunswick warehouse before it sees Queenscliff.

The crowd dresses. BTV pulls a heavily styled crowd — leather, latex, dark fits, mesh, harnesses. Carry that looks like festival merch reads wrong here. Carry that reads as proper jewellery fits.

Real security. BTV is smaller than Splendour but the security operation is professional. Bag checks, pat-downs, dogs. Sealed metal that reads as jewellery on a chain is the right move.

Climate. The Bellarine in late December — daytime sits high twenties, nights drop into the mid-teens, wind off the bay is real. Easier on gear than Byron heat, but cold nights mean jacket carry matters more.

The carry list

Pre-festival NYE in Melbourne: GoBlow pendant on chain, worn under or over the fit. The pendant reads as jewellery at a black-tie rooftop or a warehouse rave. Threaded closure, no magnets, no failures when someone bumps you on a packed dance floor.

On site, three days: Pendant stays on the chest. Stacks Triple in a bumbag for daytime sets. Stacks Single in a jacket pocket for night sets when the bumbag is too much. The Triple handles the bulk; the Single handles the discreet move.

NYE itself: Pendant only. Whatever's on your chest is what's making the countdown.

Which finish for BTV

Black. The right answer for the BTV aesthetic. PVD-bonded black on machined stainless steel, reads against leather and dark fits, disappears in low light, photographs serious under stage lighting. PVD doesn't chip — it's bonded, not coated.

Rainbow. The NYE finish. TiO2 anodised, catches stage lights, throws colour at midnight when the fireworks go up. The Rainbow on a pendant is the move for the actual countdown — it does something visually when the lighting hits.

What to skip

  • Anything obviously plastic. Reads wrong at BTV. Gets flagged at security.
  • Magnetic closures. Three-day festival plus crowd compression equals failed seals.
  • Lanyards and clip-on pouches. Wrong aesthetic. BTV crowd is past this.

BTV rewards carry that looks intentional. Order by mid-December for AU express delivery in time to pack.
