Australia Day EDC — Carry for the Long Weekend
The long weekend that actually tests your gear
January 26 is a three-day weekend in most states. 38-degree heat, beach sand, backyard concrete, sunscreen, sweat, river swims, festival dust, and a Sunday that runs longer than it should. This is what breaks cheap pendants.
Four versions of Australia Day, four finishes
- Backyard / pub crawl: Steel — the all-rounder, honest, doesn't look like you tried.
- Festival or outdoor concert: Rainbow or Gold — both photograph beautifully in golden hour and survive the dust.
- City club Sunday night: Black — the high-gloss PVD mirror disappears against a going-out top.
- Multi-event marathon (beach Friday, festival Saturday, club Sunday, BBQ Monday): Stacks — three modular vaults, enough capacity for the long weekend without restocking.
The 40-degree problem
This is the temperature at which most cheap pendants fail. Magnetic closures weaken in heat — neodymium loses field strength above 80°C, which is what a black pendant on a black tee in direct sun reaches by midday. The lid pops. Contents go. GoBlow uses machined stainless steel and a threaded closure — not magnetic. There's no magnet to fail.
The sun-and-water reality
Australia Day involves at least one of: beach, pool, river, backyard sprinkler. The pendant goes in the water with you. machined stainless steel doesn't corrode in salt or chlorine. Sealed threaded closure. You don't take it off.
